Nicole Watson is an attorney based in Holland & Knight's Chattanooga and Nashville offices. Ms. Watson is recognized for her leadership and judgment in developing and executing effective legislative and government relations strategies across Tennessee and the Southeast.
Ms. Watson earned her J.D. at Regent University School of Law. She received her B.A., cum laude, in Mass Communications and Political Science. Ms. Watson currently serves on the Boards of Directors of the Chattanooga Public Library Foundation, Hamilton County Read 20, the Chambliss Center for Children, Signal Centers, the Women's Fund of Greater Chattanooga and the Chattanooga Bar Association. Since 2020, she has served as chair of the Hamilton County Dolly Parton Imagination Library Fundraising Committee.
Ms. Watson is a graduate of Leadership Tennessee, and she served as an appointed member to the City of Chattanooga Health, Educational and Housing Facility Board from 2014 to 2021. Ms. Watson was honored as a Woman of Distinction of Greater Chattanooga in 2019 and named one of Chattanooga’s 20 under 40 honorees in 2021.

William Franklin serves as Vice President of Path Company, an energy services firm located in Memphis, TN. Through his work with Path, William works with customers in both the public and private sector to develop and deliver critical infrastructure projects with a unique focus on long-term operational efficiencies. As one of Path’s first employees, William has been both witness to and a critical part of Path’s rapid growth throughout the southeast United States.
Born and raised in Memphis, TN, William attended Christian Brothers High School before attending the University of Arkansas where he graduated from the Sam M. Walton College of Business with a BSBA degree in both Finance and Accounting. While in college, William taught Economics to his peers via Supplemental Instruction courses – instilling in him a love for education and passion for helping others. Upon graduation, William returned to Memphis where he spent the next seven years in the financial services industry. Before joining Path Company in 2019, William served as Vice President of Private Client Services at First Horizon Bank – the largest bank headquartered in the State of Tennessee.
William is fortunate enough to serve in leadership positions for a number of organizations including his current roles with ALLMemphis, Inc., NEXUS Leaders, Inc., and The Sam M. Walton College of Business. In particular, William’s role as one of the founding board members of ALLMemphis, where he currently serves as Board Chair, has exposed him to the need to improve access to educational opportunities and literacy initiatives for all members of our community.

This background endows him with sophisticated knowledge in insurance and investments, further enabling him to provide comprehensive assistance to his clients.
Keri Braswell joined Governor's Early Literacy Foundation (GELF) in 2023 as Operations Coordinator. Her role is to assist in ensuring the day-to-day operations of the organization run smoothly in support of GELF's mission of strengthening early literacy for Tennessee's youngest.
Keri is a lifelong Tennessean, born and raised in Nashville. She received her bachelor's degree in communications from Middle Tennessee State University and has since worked various administrative and communication roles. Being both a native Tennessean and a mother of two elementary aged children who have benefited by being recipients of GELF books, she has a personal appreciation for the mission of bringing early literacy into the homes and lives of our state's children. In her downtime, Keri enjoys going on road trips with her kids, Natalie and Benjamin, exploring activities and events in the city, and relaxing with her two cats at home.
"Personally, I did not grow up in a home where daily reading was part of our routine. Yet, one of my fondest memories is of my aunt reading my sister and me a bedtime story during an overnight visit. It is not just being engaged in the story that has stuck with me, but the bonding that occurred between us as well. As an adult and especially as a mother, I recognize the value of introducing and encouraging reading early on not only for increasing the potential of long-term growth and an appetite for knowledge, but also as a basis for conversation and connection within families. I feel so proud to have an opportunity to work with Governor's Early Literacy Foundation in achieving the goal of strengthening early literacy in Tennessee."
Alissa Miller joined Governor’s Early Literacy Foundation in 2023 as Communications Coordinator and supports the day-to-day marketing and communications efforts for the Foundation.
She brings more than six years of communications experience with nonprofit and public organizations, including Girl Scouts, Chambliss Center for Children, and The Salvation Army.
Alissa graduated from Auburn University with a B.A. in Public Relations and minor in English Literature. After realizing that she had a passion for working with nonprofits, she went on to earn an MPA from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where she primarily focused her studies on nonprofit and local government management. As a Nashville native, Alissa is excited to be back in her hometown and loves exploring new places around the city with her husband, Alec, and two young children.
“When I was a little girl, my love for reading started with a nightly tradition of books before bedtime. My mom would sit and read my favorite stories to me and my dad, and I would beg to read just one more book each night. Those bedtime stories ignited a lifelong love for reading, and now one of my greatest joys is to carry on that tradition with my own little ones. Experiencing the magic of books through my children’s eyes is the best gift, and it brings a smile to my face each night when my daughter tries to negotiate a few more books before bedtime. I’m honored to work for an organization that ensures each family in Tennessee has the opportunity to read and learn together.”
Heather Logan joined Governor's Early Literacy Foundation in 2023 as a Regional Program Manager. She is responsible for supporting and sustaining GELF’s programs and initiatives in East Tennessee. Heather builds deep relationships and partnerships to amplify GELF’s work in the region, uniting literacy efforts in local communities.
Previously, she has taught Head Start, worked as a 4-H Extension Agent, served as faculty in early childhood education at a community college, and worked for TECTA (Tennessee Early Childhood Training Alliance). Most recently, Heather practiced community health promotion and collective impact skills as a Community Engagement Specialist with Ballad Health and the STRONG Accountable Care Community. Heather's passion to see others succeed has been a theme throughout her career.
Heather grew up in southwest Virginia as a daughter of two elementary school teachers. She has earned a B.A in Child and Family Studies from Carson-Newman College, an MA in Early Childhood Education from East Tennessee State University and an Ed.S in Culture, Cognition and the Learning Process from Middle Tennessee State University.
"As a lifelong learner, I am excited to help inspire a love of learning among children and families in Tennessee. Ashleigh Hall joined Governor's Early Literacy Foundation in 2023 as a Regional Program Manager. She is responsible for supporting and sustaining GELF’s programs and initiatives in West Tennessee. Ashleigh builds deep relationships and partnerships to amplify GELF’s work in the region, uniting literacy efforts in local communities.
Ashleigh brings over 20 years’ experience in behavioral healthcare. Prior to joining the Foundation, Ashleigh’s work included roles in case management, TN statewide prevention program management, managing media campaigns, community events and creation of educational materials including a comic book series during her work at Centerstone. In 2012, Ashleigh was named Teacher Counselor of the Year by Centerstone and the American Re-Ed Association.
She received her undergraduate degree in Family and Consumer Sciences with an emphasis in Child Development and Family Relationships from the University of Tennessee. In 2017, she earned the Master of Organizational Leadership from Trevecca Nazarene University.
In her free time, Ashleigh is often volunteering as Classes and Education Manager at Nashville’s BELL Garden which is focused on community education and feeding those in need.

Angel Bebout joined Governor’s Early Literacy Foundation in 2023 as Finance Manager and is responsible for overseeing the Foundation’s financial policies, planning and reporting.
Angel spent 10 years at Lipscomb University, most recently as the University Register where she developed and implemented university policies and procedures regarding student records and provided academic guidance to students. Angel has a passion for education and student success.
Angel earned a BBA in accounting and an MBA in leadership from Lipscomb University. Angel and her husband Tim have two adult children and two grandchildren.

Alexis Wade joined Governor's Early Literacy Foundation in 2023 as a Special Projects Coordinator and is responsible for managing and supporting community initiatives and outreach projects.
Alexis graduated from Emory University with a B.A. in Education and Spanish. She earned her Master’s in Urban Education during her first year in the Memphis Teacher Residency program and is a graduate of Memphis Literacy Institute’s reading specialist program. Alexis most recently served as a K-3 reading interventionist following seven years as a lower elementary classroom teacher.
Alexis is a collector of children’s books and enjoys baking, going for walks, traveling, playing board games, and spending time with her husband, Marlon, and their three children.

Jake Bynum is Chief of Staff to Chancellor Freeman at the University of Tennessee at Martin. In this role, he is responsible for strategic initiatives and leadership development programs, including WestStar and the McWherter Institute. Jake previously served as Weakley County Mayor for 10 years.
In August 2014, Jake was elected Weakley County Mayor. At the age of 30, he is the youngest Mayor to serve in Weakley County. He was re-elected for a second and third term in 2018 and 2022. A lifelong resident of Weakley County, Bynum graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. After college, Bynum worked in banking with First State Bank as a Business Development Specialist. In 2020, Bynum earned a Masters of Art in Leadership and Public Service from Lipscomb University. Bynum graduated from The Harvard Kennedy School Executive Education Program with a certificate in Authentic Leadership in 2022. The position of County Mayor has allowed Bynum to be involved in a number of organizations and opportunities. He is a member of the TN County Services Association, a board member of the Northwest Tennessee Development District, West Tennessee River Basin Authority, Everett-Stewart Regional Airport, and the Regional Workforce Development Board. In 2023, Bynum was elected to serve as President of the Tennessee Association of County Mayors.
With a heart for service and helping others, Jake has worked tirelessly to improve the community. Jake has been honored to serve as President of the Dresden Rotary Club, President of the Weakley County Chamber of Commerce, President of the Dresden Business Association, Commissioner of Dresden Cal Ripken Youth League Baseball, Chairman of the Tennessee Iris Festival, Chairman of the Weakley County Reading Railroad, and Trustee for WestStar Leadership. Bynum has served on a number of boards, including the Reelfoot Bank board of directors, West Tennessee and Weakley County United Way, Weakley and Obion County Carl Perkins, Volunteer Community Hospital, Weakley County Office on Aging, and Dresden Elks Lodge. In 2020, Bynum was appointed by Governor Lee to the Tennessee Board of Pharmacy as the consumer member. Bynum became a Governor’s Early Literacy Foundation Board member in 2022. Bynum has been honored as the recipient of the 2016 Jackson Sun 40 Under 40, 2016 Tennessee Iris Festival Citizen of the Year, 2017 Weakley Countian of the Year, and 2023 TNAchieves Mentor Hall of Fame. Jake was elected in 2017, 2020, and 2023 by the Tennessee Baptist Convention to serve on the Union University Board of Trustees. Bynum is a graduate of WestStar Leadership, Delta Regional Authority Leadership Institute, Complete Tennessee Leadership Institute, and Leadership Tennessee. Jake and his family are members of Dresden First Baptist Church, where he serves as chairman of the deacon board. One of Jake’s proudest accomplishments is being a founding member of the Weakley County Backpack Program, an initiative to ensure that children in food-insecure homes have food over the weekend. Since the program's implementation, over 350 Weakley County students have received services from it.
Jake considers himself the luckiest man in Dresden, but not because of the many opportunities he has been afforded. Bynum is blessed to have had a loving family and a supportive group of friends. Most importantly, Bynum met and married the love of his life, Alyssa Bynum, who is a public school teacher. Jake and Alyssa are raising their two children, Ella and Nash, as a team, and they support Jake and his many endeavors.
Angela Greek joined Governor's Early Literacy Foundation in 2022 as Finance Manager. She is responsible for the direction and oversight of the organization’s financial activities and works to manage, enhance, and grow the organization’s financial health.
Angela brings over 12 years of nonprofit accounting and finance experience to the organization. Just prior to joining GELF, she served nonprofit clients as an outsourced accounting consultant responsible for the full range of accounting and finance activities including policy development, audit preparation, and grants management as well as client relationship development.
A graduate of Middle Tennessee State University, Angela earned degrees in both English and Accounting and has been a licensed CPA since 2011. She is a Tennessee native, currently residing in Nashville with her husband John and daughter Cate, who was a recipient of Imagination Library books from birth until she started kindergarten.
“I know the strong foundation in education and literacy provided in my childhood by family educators and dedicated teachers has been a critical factor in shaping who I am as person, my view of the world, and how I see my place in it. I am exceptionally proud and feel very fortunate to be given the opportunity to use my skills and knowledge to advance the mission of strengthening early literacy in Tennessee and to be a part of the incredible impact such an effort has on the lives of all Tennesseans.”

Katie Elam joined Governor’s Early Literacy Foundation in 2022 as Program Manager for the Statewide Early Literacy Education Collaborative of Tennessee (SELECT), a statewide initiative aimed at connecting early literacy leaders across Tennessee. The work of SELECT envisions a Tennessee where all children have equitable access to resources and opportunities to become confident readers, critical thinkers, and lifelong learners.
Katie previously worked in the field of education for over 15 years. She started her career as an early childhood teacher at a developmental preschool, taught Pre-K blended with Metro-Nashville Public Schools, and later served as a dean and assistant principal at an elementary charter school in Nashville, TN.
Originally from Tullahoma, Tennessee, Katie earned her BA in psychology and sociology from the University of Tennessee and her MEd from Vanderbilt University in Early Childhood Special Education. She is a self proclaimed book nerd whose “what to read next” stack never stops growing. She also enjoys doing puzzles, cheering on the Vols and hiking with her dog, Rosemary.
“Books are magic. And falling in love with reading is one of the most impactful things that can happen for a young child. Despite being a reluctant young reader, I know I am the person I am today because of the people who helped me see myself as a reader early on. I am thrilled to be joining this team and working to connect people doing this incredibly important work across Tennessee to help ensure that every child in our state can see themselves as a reader, too.”

James is a Senior Vice President and Business Development Manager for Pinnacle Wealth Advisors, the registered investment advisor unit of Pinnacle Financial Partners that helps clients build, protect and distribute wealth. He has spent over 15 years working in banking and finance, including 7 years on Wall Street, spending most of that in corporate development and private equity sales at Barclays Wealth. James holds a bachelor’s degree in International Business from The University of Southern Mississippi.
James is a member of the Phoenix Club of Nashville, which is a non-profit that supports under-served youth in Middle Tennessee. He also participated in Young Leadership Council, which helped placed him with Governor’s Early Literacy Foundation as a board intern, before officially joining the board in 2022.
In his spare time, James loves spending time with his wonderful wife Elizabeth and two amazing daughters, Rowan and Caroline, who are the inspiration behind his desire to focus his philanthropy on childhood literacy and wellbeing. Both girls were participants in GELF’s Imagination Library and he attributes a large part of their love of reading to this program.

Jamie Wildman serves as Praxess’ CEO where he leads the organization’s strategic vision and overall direction.
Jamie founded Praxess after a 20 year career at William Blair where he most recently was a Partner and Head of Merchant Banking, a platform he founded and built, leading the execution of 30 transactions where individuals invested in private equity funds and direct deals. Prior to this role, Jamie founded the firm’s family office practice, served as a senior member of the firm’s financial sponsors group and advised on M&A transactions and capital raises. Jamie joined William Blair from Bear Stearns and began his career at SG Cowen.
Jamie serves on the Board of Advisors for Vanderbilt University’s College of Arts & Science and is a Board member for Governor’s Early Literacy Foundation and Book’em. Previously, he was Board Chair for the American Red Cross of Greater Chicago, Board Chair for Bernie’s Book Bank and Treasurer and Board Member for the Gorton Community Center.
Jamie received his B.A. cum laude from Vanderbilt University and his M.B.A. with honors from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business where he has been a guest lecturer on investment banking.
Some of our teachers lost all of their teaching supplies in the flood, and all of the teachers at Waverly Elementary had to be relocated, this generous gift not only reminds our teachers, students and entire community that we have not been forgotten, but it also allows our teachers to replenish some of their lost teaching items to continue to strengthen our students’ literacy skills.

Through SELECT, Governor’s Early Literacy Foundation brings together early literacy leaders from across the state to build connections and a shared understanding of current initiatives and future opportunities through meaningful dialogue. The purpose of SELECT is to create a collaborative statewide vision for early literacy efforts in Tennessee.
During SELECT, the group determined that a shared action plan would help outline challenges, identify priority next steps to align their work together and drive solutions that strengthen early literacy statewide.

Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee
Danielle Whitworth Barnes joined as CEO/President of the Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee in December 2023. She has a lifelong passion for building strong communities and building leaders, especially women, girls, and the disadvantaged.
Prior to joining Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee, she led the U.S. Human Services practice for Ernst & Young, counseling state and local governments across the country and creating innovative and practical solutions and programs for families and vulnerable individuals.
Danielle also served as a member of the Governor’s Cabinet as the Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Human Services. Under two different Governors, she led the operations and strategic direction of the state’s second largest agency responsible for aiding over 2 million vulnerable Tennesseans. Operating a budget of over $2.1 billion, providing leadership to more than 4,000 employees, and managing 113 facilities, Danielle maintained a reputation for driving for strong results for individuals, families and communities through meaningful work outcomes and community partnerships. Under her leadership, the Department increased the number of collaborative partnerships with emphasis on meeting the essential needs of families, enhancing the customer experience, modernizing technology, reducing administrative process, increasing access to services in rural communities, and connecting DHS customers to sustainable employment opportunities. As Commissioner during the COVID-19 pandemic, she ushered in innovative programs and processes, such as P-EBT, Pandemic Cash Assistance, Pandemic Child Care, and others to quickly respond to the needs of Tennesseans.
Prior to her appointment at DHS, she served as Deputy Commissioner & General Counsel for the Tennessee Department of Human Resources. There she co-authored and implemented the Tennessee Excellence and Accountability (T.E.A.M.) Act which overhauled the state’s civil service practices, created the state’s mediation program, revamped the State’s performance management processes, and enacted pay for performance for state employees. Before her 16-year tenure in public service, she practiced with a private law firm.
Danielle earned her undergraduate degree from Spelman College and her law degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law.
Danielle is active in a variety of organizations, including, Jack and Jill of America Foundation, Think TN, Tennessee State Museum, Governor’s Early Literacy Foundation, the Tennessee Adoption Project, and MLB Music City (Nashville Stars). She and her husband live with their 2 children in Brentwood, TN.

Chad Carter joined Governor’s Early Literacy Foundation in 2021 as Executive Operations Manager. He is responsible for holistically supporting the Foundation’s efforts to fulfill its early literacy mission. Chad helps the GELF team strategize process improvements to increase quality, productivity, and efficiency in the organization’s operations.
Chad grew up on a farm in Valdosta, GA. After studying Commercial Recreation at Georgia Southern University, he moved to Girdwood, Alaska, to work for a luxury adventure company. After over 10 years of experience in the Alaska tourism industry, he found his passion in the nonprofit sector while serving in an operational role for a nonprofit environmental law firm. In 2018, fate brought Chad to Nashville, where he enjoys exploring the city with his husband, John, and dog, Dozer.

Judi Hankins Davis joined Governor’s Early Literacy Foundation in 2015 as Regional Consultant, Birth-5 Book Delivery program, aiding and sustaining east Tennessee county affiliates of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Judi builds deep relationships with volunteers and supports affiliates in reorganizing their boards, identifying local business partners and community advocates, and sharing successful fundraising ideas.
She previously served as the Director of the McMinn County Education Foundation and McMinn County Imagination Library Chair. Judi is a 20-year veteran 2nd grade classroom teacher and served as an Athens City Schools’ gifted education teacher for 12 years.
Judi’s B.S. in elementary education from Tennessee Wesleyan University, M.A. in gifted education from the University of Tennessee and Ed.S. from Lincoln Memorial University have given her the skills to educate young children in McMinn County and the passion to support program affiliates that serve children in their communities. Originally from Greeneville, Tenn., Judi is an avid genealogy researcher. She, her husband Cary, and dog Sally, live in Athens, and they love to travel.
“Growing up in small towns in east Tennessee and southwest Virginia enabled me to appreciate rural living through vivid stories shared from those of past generations. The stories were mostly parables and fables, all filled with voices of expression by way of my father and our ancestors. Over a 5-year period, Tennessee’s children can receive 60 quality age-appropriate books in the home and experience the joy of stories and storytelling. This is where learning begins!”
Joe Strausbaugh joined Governor’s Early Literacy Foundation in 2021 as Data Manager. He is responsible for maintaining the Foundation’s databases and software.

Jacob Edwards joined Governor's Early Literacy Foundation in 2021 as Program Manager, Birth-5 Initiatives, responsible for overseeing the Foundation’s initiatives that serve children from birth to age five statewide, including most notably, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Tennessee, and Storybook Trails. He is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with volunteers and partners to sustain and grow these initiatives.
Jacob previously served in an operational role at Kipp Kirkpatrick Elementary School in Nashville, Tenn., and has four years’ experience as an elementary school teacher in Knoxville and Nashville. He graduated from the University of Tennessee with a B.S. in education, focused in kinesiology. Originally from Knoxville, Jacob enjoys playing golf, cheering on the Volunteers and Nashville Predators, and spending time outdoors with his wife, Margo, and their dog, Bogey.

Abigail Sanderson joined Governor’s Early Literacy Foundation in 2021 and is responsible for planning, organizing and directing the Foundation’s fundraising efforts, including individual giving, corporate sponsorship and grants.
Abigail brings over eight years’ experience in project and program management, strategy and board development and fundraising. Prior to joining the Foundation, Abigail served as Senior Manager of Institutional Relations at Cheekwood, where she increased institutional support by approximately 60%, raising over $1M in foundation, corporate and government grants over a three-year period. Abigail also worked as an independent nonprofit consultant, Public Programs Manager at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum and Communications Manager at Healing Arts Project, Inc. As a nonprofit professional, Abigail is committed to industry ethics; diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion; and raising funds to help meet community needs.
Abigail has an M.M. and an M.A. in Nonprofit Arts Administration from Indiana University Bloomington, where she focused her studies on organizational behavior, strategy and fundraising. Abigail and her husband (John) have a young son (Liam) and live in Nashville. As a mother of a young Imagination Library book recipient, Abigail’s commitment to the Foundation is as personal as it is professional.

James Pond has more than 20 years of experience in nonprofit leadership. As President of Governor’s Early Literacy Foundation (GELF), he develops long-term strategies for strengthening early literacy in Tennessee, partnering with organizations to amplify innovative programs for children statewide. His leadership role unites the efforts of the GELF team; more than 700 statewide volunteers; corporate partners; municipal and state government; and other public and private organizations.
A native of Antioch, Calif., James previously served as Executive Director of Veteran’s PATH, which helps combat veterans find health and healing. He also spent 12 years working with organizations combatting sex trafficking in Southeast Asia. After serving eight years in the U.S. Marine Corps, he worked 10 years in corporate America before beginning his nonprofit career.
James earned a master’s degree in 2004 at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, Calif. He and his wife Athena have three adult children, two grandchildren and live in Nashville.

Dean Dorsey Hoskins, who joined Governor's Early Literacy Foundation as Vice President in 2012, is primarily responsible for the Foundation’s financial management, operations and strategic program partnerships. She also assists in fundraising, program support and strategic planning.
Prior to joining the GELF team, Dean spent a decade as a motivational speaker and consultant to nonprofits and financial services firms on matters of operations and internal communications. She also has more than 15 years of experience as an entrepreneur.
Originally from Macon, Ga., Dean graduated cum laude from the University of Georgia with a B.B.A. in risk management and insurance. In 2020, Dean became “Neannie” to Emery, her first granddaughter and Imagination Library participant.

Claire Jones joined Governor's Early Literacy Foundation in 2016 as Communications Manager, responsible for creating the Foundation’s brand messaging and marketing strategy to raise awareness of its early literacy mission and programs statewide. She manages the Foundation’s communications and supports program affiliates at the grassroots level.
Claire previously served as Policy Coordinator for former Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal. She graduated cum laude from Louisiana State University with a B.A. in political communications and a minor in history. Originally from Shreveport, La., Claire is an avid LSU football fan and loves country music, crawfish and trying new Nashville restaurants.

Linda Kirkpatrick joined Governor's Early Literacy Foundation in 2014 as Executive Assistant for Administration and Outreach. In 2020, she transitioned into the role of Program Manager, serving as the primary point of contact for Imagination Library county affiliates and existing programs. She works to cultivate and maintain strong relationships with volunteers, staff and supporters statewide to encourage growth and sustainability. Linda loves traveling to meet with county volunteers across the state to amplify their efforts.
A native of Nashville, Tenn., Linda enjoys hiking and spending time with her family and “grand dogs.”

Meredith Hilleary joined Governor's Early Literacy Foundation in 2022 as Program Manager, K-3 Initiatives, responsible for overseeing initiatives that serve children from kindergarten through 3rd grade, including the K-3 Home Library, Book Bus, and Caregiver Engagement programs. She is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with Tennessee school districts, educators, volunteers, and partners across the state to sustain and grow these initiatives.
Meredith most recently served as a 3rd Grade ELA Teacher with Sumner County Schools and has over twenty years’ experience in the field of education, having worked in a variety of roles in public schools, independent school advancement, non-profit education, and development. Prior to her experience in the education field, Meredith also served in various legislative and constituent service roles in Washington, D.C. She graduated from the University of Tennessee with a M.S. in Early Childhood Education after completing her undergraduate work in Sociology and Anthropology with a concentration in Politics at Washington and Lee University.
Meredith is a native of Alabama and the daughter of two former educators who helped instill in her a love of learning from an early age. She enjoys reading, playing tennis, the outdoors, travel, and spending time with her husband Van and their four children as well as their extended family.

Dr. Nancy Dishner is President and CEO of the Niswonger Foundation. She previously served as Vice Provost for Enrollment Services and Director of the Roan Scholars Leadership Program at East Tennessee State University. She was a tenured professor of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis. She also served as Special Assistant to the University President. Her early experience was as a public school teacher in Unicoi County. Her 43-year career has focused on providing opportunities for children to receive the best educational opportunities possible in order to lead productive and fulfilling lives.
Nancy is an alumna of East Tennessee State University with a B.S. degree in Elementary Education, summa cum laude. She has a master’s degree in Supervision and Administration; and a Doctorate in Administration. She is the recipient of the ETSU Outstanding Staff Award, served at Staff Senate President, and is recognized in the ETSU Clemmer College of Education Hall of Fame. Nancy served two terms as President of Phi Kappa Phi honor society. She was named the ETSU Outstanding Alumna for 2013, and has a street named in her honor on the ETSU campus.
Dr. Dishner served two terms on the Board of Directors of the Johnson City/Jonesborough/Washington County Chamber of Commerce, establishing and chairing the Partners in Education program for Johnson City and Washington County. She served on the Johnson City Public Building Authority as both secretary and chair of the public relations committee.
She is a Commissioner on the Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC); on the Board of the Tennessee Independent Colleges and Universities Association (TICUA), serving as vice president; and a board member for the Governor’s Early Literacy Foundation. She serves as a Board member for Communities in Schools, and on the Board of Tennesseans for Quality Early Education. She is an advisory board member on for SCORE. Nancy serves on the Board of Directors for the Niswonger Foundation and on the Executive Council for the Niswonger Children’s Hospital. She is a member of the Board of Trustees at Tusculum University.

CeeGee McCord is an instrumental part of Eastman's global public affairs and policy team. She has responsibility for corporate and Eastman Foundation investing, social innovation and impact initiatives, community affairs, and economic development partnerships. In addition to leading the corporate responsibility and education initiatives ream, she manages the corporate events and customer engagements organization. This involves responsibility for all executive and Board functions, sales and investor meetings customer outreach, conferences, and VIP visits to Eastman offices and sites around the world.
Prior to joining Eastman, McCord worked extensively in the nonprofit and public service sector. She earned her bachelor's degree in management from Georgia Institute of Technology, and a master's degree in public administration from Kennesaw State University. McCord has served in many volunteer leadership positions in philanthropic and service organizations. She has served as the chair of the State Government Affairs Committee of the American Chemistry Council as a board member for the United Way of Tennessee, chaired the Kingsport Chamber of Commerce Board and the Commission of the Kingsport Housing and Redevelopment Authority. She currently serves as the secretary of the Kingsport Economic Development Board, is chair of the inclusion and diversity initiatives of the Kingsport Chamber of Commerce, a board member of the Johnson City/Washington County Chamber, and a lifetime member of Leadership Tennessee. McCord and her husband, Jeff, have three adult children.

A native of Middle Tennessee, Jeff Ballard joined Delta Dental of Tennessee in the role of Chief Financial Officer in 2015. Seven years later, Jeff moved in to his current seat as President and added the CEO role January 1, 2024. In his prior roles at Delta Dental, Ballard led the expansion of the company’s business offerings into vision insurance and has overseen accounting, finance, risk management, sales, and underwriting.
Jeff was recognized as the Joe M. Rodgers Spirit of America Award recipient for 2022 by Middle Tennessee State University’s Jennings A. Jones College of Business. He was also named CFO of the Year in the Nashville Business Journal’s 2021 Health Care Innovation Awards as well as CFO of the Year for Large Private Company in the Nashville Business Journal’s 2020 CFO Awards. He is also a past recipient of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) Financial Executive of the Year Award.
Ballard is a native of Middle Tennessee and has worked in the region his entire career. He serves on the boards of directors of the Pinson Hospital Hospitality House, Governor’s Early Literacy Foundation, and the TransPerfect Music City Bowl. He is also a member of the Middle Tennessee State University Accounting Advisory Board, Tennessee Business Leadership Council, Tennessee Business Roundtable and Nashville Rotary.
A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA), Jeff earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration - Accounting from Middle Tennessee State University. Before coming to Delta Dental of Tennessee, Mr. Ballard served as CFO at Magazines.com for ten years. From 1998 to 2005, Ballard served as controller for Corrections Corporation of America (CCA), a publicly traded prison management company with sixty-four facilities located in nineteen states, the District of Columbia and the United Kingdom. Mr. Ballard began his career as an auditor for Arthur Andersen in Nashville for five years.

Mr. Duckett joined the Baptist Memorial Health Care Corporation in 1992. He directs all of Legal Services associated with Baptist Memorial Healthcare and has coordinated several mergers and acquisition on behalf of the corporation the largest of which was the acquisition of Mississippi Baptist Health System in Jackson, Mississippi. Baptist healthcare is the largest hospital based provider in the Mid-South (TN, AK & MS). Baptist operates 22 hospitals and employs over 18,500 employees and has the largest number of employed and allied physician practitioners in the region. Baptist is the largest provider of TennCare and Medicaid services in the Mid-South. As the Chief Legal Officer for the organization, he has overseen several complex transactions that have led to a number of new initiatives in health care. He was instrumental in some of the early physician acquisitions in the Memphis area. Additionally, he is responsible for Risk Management, Corporate Compliance, Privacy and Security, and the Legal and Regulatory Department.
He also served as a board member on the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis for six years.
He served as the Chief Administrative Officer for the City of Memphis in 1991. In that capacity he is the youngest ever to serve at 31 and the first African-American to serve as the Chief Administrative Officer for the City of Memphis.
Mr. Duckett served as an assistant to Senator Albert Gore, Jr., from 1985 to 1987 and as Director of Memphis Housing and Community Development for the City of Memphis from 1988 to 1990.

Denine Torr joined Dollar General in the fall of 1999. As senior director of Community Initiatives, she oversees corporate and foundation giving, employee volunteer engagement efforts, and cause-related partnerships for Dollar General's forty-four state market.
Mrs. Torr has designed and executed charitable initiatives for Dollar General that have raised more than $100 million for charity. She was instrumental in the creation of the Dollar General Employee Assistance Foundation. Under her leadership, the Dollar General Literacy Foundation has flourished into a national thought leader and has helped more than 9 million individuals learn to read, prepare for the high school equivalency or learn English.
Mrs. Torr received her Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast Communications from Middle Tennessee State University. Prior to Dollar General, her experience includes network television production, freelance writing and public relations. Denine currently serves on the board of directors for the Nashville Public Library Foundation, Nashville Public Television and is board chair for ProLiteracy Worldwide.

Parul Bajaj is Senior Manager, Philanthropy for Nissan North America, responsible for leading the company’s corporate giving and philanthropy strategy for the U.S. She also serves as executive director of the Nissan Foundation, overseeing activities related to the Foundation’s ongoing support of educational programs that celebrate and foster diversity.
Bajaj joined the Nissan Corporate Communications team in March 2016 and brings extensive experience from Bridgestone and FedEx.

Brandon O. Gibson serves as a senior advisor to Tennessee Governor Bill Lee. She was appointed to this position in January 2019. Prior to this appointment, she served as a Tennessee Court of Appeals judge for the state's western section and is a sixth generation Tennessean. She graduated from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor of Science degree and Master’s degree in Agribusiness Management. She graduated from Southern Methodist University School of Law in 2000, practiced law in Texas for a year, and felt the pull back to West Tennessee, where she began practicing law in Jackson. She practiced at Pentecost & Glenn for many years until Governor Bill Haslam appointed her to the Tennessee Court of Appeals on December 26, 2013. Brandon was sworn in on September 1, 2014. She lives on a small farm in Crockett County, Tennessee.

Jennifer Colquitt joined Sarah Blair Event Design as COO in April 2024. She is bringing her fourteen years of experience working with the Frist Family assisting with household, event, and financial operations to the Nashville-based event planning firm where she will oversee and manage the business operations. Prior to working for the Frists, she worked in Development at Vanderbilt University as the Program Coordinator for Corporate and Foundation Relations. Jennifer graduated cum laude from Vanderbilt with a B.S. in Political Science and Psychology. She went on to earn a Masters Degree from the Education Department at Belmont University.
Jennifer has been and continues to be very involved in the Nashville community where she has put her skills and talent to work in various volunteer positions. In addition to her position on the Governor’s Early Literacy Foundation board, she is involved as a sustainer at Junior League of Nashville. As an active member, she served in many placements focused on literacy and child health in the Nashville community. She has also served as a volunteer, committee member, or board member for Chi Omega House Corporation at Vanderbilt, Sports Servants, Young Life and St. Jude among others. She is a member of Midtown Fellowship Granny White Church where she is the volunteer women’s ministry coordinator. She lives in Nashville and her favorite role is being “Aunt Ju” to her 3 nieces and 4 nephews.

Dr. Andrea Willis is the Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee. In her leadership role at BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, Dr. Willis ensures that all clinical initiatives and quality endeavors support the needs of our members, and contribute to the overall health and well-being of our communities. As the standard bearer for clinical excellence and positive health outcomes, she keeps quality care at the forefront of discussions with our customers, providers, regulators and stakeholders.
Meeting Dr. Willis means quickly recognizing her passion for better health and a better health care system, which stems from her early professional experience as a pediatrician. Within BlueCross, she has served as medical director, advising on care structures for many successful programs, including the CHOICES Long-Term Services and Support program for the state’s Medicaid population, and CoverTennessee.
Before joining our company, she served the State of Tennessee as director of CoverKids, helped develop Tennessee’s federally approved State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), and served as deputy commissioner for the Tennessee Department of Health.
Dr. Willis is a fellow with the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the Tennessee Medical Association. She earned a Master of Public Health from Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health and a Doctor of Medicine from Georgetown University School of Medicine.
