Student Learning at Home: K-3rd Grade Reading Activities & Suggestions

As part of our K-3rd Grade Summer Reading pilot, we provide students with high-quality books and literacy resources to prevent reading and learning loss over the summer months. We partner with book-gifting organizations, piloting a Summer Collection from Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and Scholastic, to select age-appropriate books and materials that align with educational standards in Tennessee. Below is a link to a list of K-3 skill concepts, suggested books and related activities that you can do at home to help strengthen your child’s early literacy skills. We encourage you to check these books out from your local library and perform the activity as a family. If you do not have access to these books, you can still make it a learning opportunity by following the activity.
