Fundraising Dinner & Galileo Presentation (Grundy Co.)

On November 14th, the Rotary Club of Grundy County will host its annual Fundraiser Dinner at the DuBose Conference Center. Tickets are $50 per person and are available at all local Tri-County Bank branches, Tower Bank-Monteagle and Regions Bank-Sewanee, as well as from Rotary Club members. The social hour begins at 6:00 p.m. followed by dinner at 7:00 p.m.. Following dinner, Parnassus Productions will present the “Legacy of Galileo, an Encounter with Genius" in the DuBose Chapel, featuring Roy Henderson as Galileo Galilei (1564 – 1642), in a production written by Rusty Bynum and directed by Jeanette Henderson.
Mr. Henderson has over 60 years of experience in the theatrical arts, beginning with Baccalaureate degrees in Drama, Acting and English Literature from the University of London and the Central School of Speech and Drama. He spent five years as an actor with the prestigious Royal Shakespeare Company in England, including a command performance for Queen Elizabeth II and the Royal Family during her Silver Jubilee Celebration, in which he performed the title role of "”Henry VIII” at Windsor Castle.
Mr. Henderson has created, directed, performed and advised presentations of all kinds on five continents. In his twenties, he spent six years in Southeast Asia with the British Armed Forces Entertainment Unit (their version of the USO). He also spent a year doing radio theatre in the Middle East, and traveled to South Africa and Europe on tour with a variety of theatre groups, including the Royal Shakespeare Company. His film roles include Day of the Jackal, The Eagle Has Landed, Ten Rillington Place, Fire In the Streets, and Rachel Day among others.
Since his arrival in the United States, Henderson has served as Advisor to the California Shakespeare Company, an actor with the Arizona Theatre Company, Executive Director of the Phoenix Conservatory Theatre, Director of the Burt Reynolds Institute for Theatre Training, Executive and Artistic Director of the Actor's Repertory Company, Executive Director of Universal Productions Training Division, Director of the Interlochen Summer Shakespeare Program, and Speaker Consultant for the last four Republican National Conventions, to name just a few.
Currently, Mr. Henderson serves as Artistic Director of the Parnassus Productions, Inc., a 501(c)(3) Not-for-Profit regional professional touring company based in Tennessee. He is also a principal facilitator for many Podium Master Public Speaking and Presentation Workshops. Mr. Henderson and his wife, Jeanette Henderson, are long-time residents of Grundy County and live in the idyllic Skymont area of Grundy County. Proceeds from the fundraiser will support the Grundy County Imagination Library Program and other Rotary programs in support of the youth of the Grundy County.
